Team Robinson
WING IT!
MAKE BELIEVE YOU CAN FLY…
As Team Robinson, we decided to tackle future transportation solutions. In our world today, we face the ever increasing crisis of global oil sources drying up thus mandating further exploration. As we have all witnessed, it is very dangerous to both our people and our environment.
We imagined the possibility of self-propelled winged flight. No Jetsons here, our prototype is more reminiscent of Leonardo’s first flying machine. We’ve constructed these enormous wings. Whenever possible, we tried to be “green” by repurposing existing materials.
Our back story: Working on the genome project, scientists are able to inject aviary DNA embedded in a micro chip into enormous wings. It is their sole power source. As with everything, initially, it’s wildly expensive but once mass production is established flying becomes the right of all people. Similar to car showrooms today, this storefront is transformed into the dealership of flight. Just imagine thousand of people soaring above our Earth.
It’s a lovely thought…
No wax wings here... it's Icarus done right. WING IT!Tom Robinson is a visual artist of note. His wood mosaics, paintings, sculptural work are found in many collections. But the specialty Tom brings to this team is that he is a master woodworker. Robinson’s craftsmanship have earned him critical praise and commissions from all over the country. His “Twins” series is a hybrid of fine art woodworking and painterly sensibility.
Charlie B. Thorne can be found capturing cityscapes on site through out Chicago. Thorne’s remarkable spatial thinking is most evident when working on his miniatures. His series of Chicago landmarks encased in lipstick tubes was no less than amazing. Minute details, skilled workmanship, a whimsical imagination, and careful planning are his keys to success.
Laura M. Coyle brings a steady hand to her work be it painting, drawing or digital. Her work has been shown throughout the Chicago area and nationally in solo and group shows. As an art director, Coyle has won awards for design and illustration.
